good life, good death, good grief

Demystifying Death Week 2022

Taking place across Scotland from 2-6 May, Demystifying Death Week is about shining a light on death, dying and bereavement in Scotland. We are encouraging people to get involved by holding online events that bring death, dying and bereavement into the limelight.

Below is a list of events registered so far - these pages will be updated over the coming weeks. If you are organising an event, please get in touch.

Death Cafe

Organised by NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. Monday 2 May, 7pm.

What will we be talking about?

Let’s break the taboo, and talk about Death! This event is an informal space to talk with others about something which affects us all…so boil the kettle, raid the biscuit tin and come and join the conversation!

Please note that this is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.

Who is this event for?

Open to everyone including members of the public and staff.

When and where is it happening?

7.00-8.00pm, Online on MS Teams

Who is this event for?

Open to everyone but may be particularly useful for unpaid carers.

When and where is it happening?

2.00-3.00pm, Online on MS Teams

Can you really choose to die? A talk by Jane Duncan Rogers and Phyllis Shacter

Organised by the Findhorn Community. 30 April, 7pm-9pm. Online or at the Universal Hall Findhorn.

Jane is founder of social enterprise, Before I Go Solutions, a training organisation providing products and programmes to help others make good end-of-life plans. She wrote this book after her husband got dementia and decided he no longer wanted to live with it.
