Guided History Walk in Camelon Cemetery

Tue 14 May 2019, 6.30pm - 8pm
Meet at Falkirk Crematorium Car Park, FK2 7YJ
FREE

Starting at the Crematorium the walk will explain the inception and growth of the burial ground from the 1870s and its careful formal planning. One surprise might be the use of Roman hypocaust columns from the Antonine Wall at Rough Castle. The magnificent monuments take many forms – such as a broken column – denoting a life ended early. There are also many famous people from Falkirk’s amazing history to visit - including Robert Barr of Irn Bru fame, Walter Alexander of bus fame, Falkirk’s most renowned poet, heroes of the two world wars, and many more.
