Glasgow Requiem: The Walk

Organised by Aproxima Arts Collective

Launching 26 April

Glasgow Necropolis

This is a recording of a guided walk taking in the Glasgow Necropolis and the surrounding area. The walk can be done independently by anyone using their own device during the Necropolis’ open hours.

Aproxima Arts Collective are doing a 3-year project at Glasgow Necropolis called Glasgow Requiem. In 2024, they built a Flower Memorial sited on a mass common Grave, where 8,000 folk were buried without headstones or memorial.

The next phase of the project launches on 26 April. Glasgow Requiem: The Walk, narrated by Gary Lewis, is an 80-minute recorded guided walk taking in some of the oldest parts of Glasgow with a powerful and emotive section in the Necropolis, looking at visibility and invisibility in life and death.

The recording of the walk is free and will be on Aproxima’s website from the end of April. The walk can be done at Glasgow Necropolis at any time during its open hours.

Find out more and download the recording at Aproxima’s website.
