good life, good death, good grief

Scottish Compassionate Communities Toolkit

Organisational Support

Ardgowan Hospice provided initial funding to develop Compassionate Inverclyde, employing a Programme Lead to work full time on the project. The involvement and support of the hospice had several other benefits to the project:

  • Ardgowan Hospice is well-known and trusted locally, and Compassionate Inverclyde's links with the hospice were helpful at the outset in encouraging people's trust in the project.
  • Though Compassionate Inverclyde volunteers don't serve the hospice, as a charity, the hospice was able to process Disclosure Scotland applications from volunteers without incurring a cost.
  • The Programme Lead for Compassionate Inverclyde was previously the Director of Care at Ardgowan Hospice, and through that role had gained respect from clinicians and community members that was helpful in making links and overcoming challenges.
