good life, good death, good grief

Scottish Compassionate Communities Toolkit

Pushing up the Daisies

Pushing Up The Daisies started as the response of a group of women in Moray to their experiences of death and dying. It has grown into a Scotland wide charity network that:

  • provides opportunities for people to learn how to care for the body of a loved one at home after their death.
  • provides information about options, legalities and practicalities in the days after death.
  • advocates with health professionals and funeral directors for people who wish to keep someone close immediately after they die.
They run a Scotland-wide network who get together occasionally to share knowledge and support each others’ work and vision around care immediately after death.

Pushing Up The Daisies is a network of people believe that spending time with someone in the days after they have died eases grief in the longer term, and who want to support others in their local community to experience this if they wish.

If this is something that resonates with you and you would like to find out more about becoming a part of Pushing Up the Daisies, more information is available on their website: Pushing up the Daisies.
