good life, good death, good grief

Scottish Compassionate Communities Toolkit

Become a dementia friend

The Dementia Friends programme is an Alzheimer Scotland initiative that aims to raise awareness and reduce stigma about Dementia.

Alzheimer Scotland runs free information sessions lasting just one hour that teach people a little bit about dementia and the small things anyone can do to help someone with the condition. They also have information and films on their website where people can learn more about dementia. On completion of the information session, participants become a 'dementia friend' and receive a badge.

Completing the Dementia Friends programme is one way that community members can increase their knowledge and skills relating to dementia.

There may be others in your community who are interested in identifying follow up actions with the aim of becoming a more dementia-friendly community.
